Medical Scientific Liaison – CNS-BRE00000108 Job Description

MSL is a field-based representative of Medical Affairs who reports to Medical Director/ Medical Manager/medical advisor of his/her therapeutic Area. MSL facilitates the exchange of unbiased scientific and medical knowledge to the medical community and UCB.

MSL must perform all of their duties in compliance with the local, national, and relevant international regulations and guidelines as well as in compliance with all the UCB SOPs and compliance guidelines. Further, MSL must continually ensure that she/he maintains an unbiased, non-promotional position while enhancing professional relationships in order to develop and maintain trust and credibility as a reliable resource for medical and scientific information.
MSL must be committed to principal of “One UCB” working culture across different units.

Major Accountabilities:

1. MSL must ensure continuous development and update of her/his personal professional skills and knowledge of the therapeutic area including disease state and treatment options.

2. MSL is a dedicated, key medical and scientific contact for external communications between UCB and Key Opinion Leaders, Members of Advisory Boards and medical institutions and patient organizations. MSL is responsible in the development of these partnerships. This includes:

• prepare and deliver medical and scientific lectures on UCB products and within the therapeutic area as needed.
• responding to unsolicited requests including off-label information follow up on Adverse events and medical requests as needed
• organize CME events and Advisory boards
• actively participating in medical and scientific activities at national and international congresses, e.g. abstract submission, support speakers, scientific summaries

• training and giving medical support to UCB internal customers (market access, marketing, sales) on medical and scientific topics related to UCB products and therapy areas.
• reviewing promotional information material in collaboration with process owners as needed
• actively participating in the cross functional team

Experience:

• Scientific expertise
• superior knowledge in therapeutic area, incl. related diseases and co-morbid medical conditions
• Previous experience in pharma industry

• fluent in English and Dutch
• strong interpersonal skills
• excellent communication and presentation skills
• flexibility to travel (> 70%)
• team player both in the medical team and cross functionally
• strong multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills
• sufficient knowledge in clinical trials, health economy and research related issues to be able to support the communication related to the clinical trials.
