Software Engineer Job Description

REPORTS TO:
Development Manager (Bocad) 3D Development

DEPARTMENT:
Product Development – Engineering & Design Systems (EDS)

JOB PURPOSE
It is the responsibility of Software Engineer to develop bocad-3D and other software development activities as allocated. To work as part of team and to support the overall aim of AVEVA products to be market leaders.

DIMENSIONS
The Software Engineer will be working in a team developing and maintaining bocad-3D at the foundation level.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
The role requires proven software development experience. Must be a team worker with good communication skills and an ability to work on own initiative whilst carrying out the development Microsoft technology based solutions mainly for the structural detailing industries.

Responsibilities include the analysis of the specified requirements and identification of the solution approach, the appropriate application of User Experience design principles, the creation of Design Specifications and implementation of quality software.

IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Must be an excellent team player willing to give and receive advice.

Software Engineer Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• A Computer Science, Maths or equivalent Degree or equivalent experience
• Proven programming experience using Visual Studio, C++, C, Fortran
• Working with configuration management tools such as subversion, TFS
• Proven design documentation skills
• Logical and numerate, with problem solving skills
• Team worker with proactive approach
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• “Completer-finisher” mentality, capable of working independently and also able to function as part of a team
