A position is available at the Laboratory of Microengineering for Manufacturing (LPM) at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.
Project
This project aims at developing a sensor for fast and continuous detection of bacteria in drinking water. The goal is to rapidly bring this project to a commercial application in a start-up to be created in 2013.
Job description
The candidate will be responsible for realizing several subsystems of our innovative bacteria sensor. The range of subsystems to be developed is very broad: it includes microcontroller boards, FPGA boards for signal processing, low-noise analog amplifiers, but also mechanical parts for the microfluidic system and for the optical modules. The candidate will have to interact with specialists in bio-chemistry, optics, micro-fluidics and electronics. This position offers an excellent opportunity to play an important role in developing and implementing innovative and exciting applications in the drinking water analysis domain.
