The team
As a member of the Skype Event Delivery Framework Team, you will help build an infrastructure capable of supporting hundreds of millions of users. Our growing Prague development group will leverage a combination of open standards to deliver communication services--including voice, video, chat and presence--to the web and enable radically new Skype applications.
The technology used by the team will include distributed databases and frameworks (e.g., Azure Table Store, Blob Store, Queues, Message Buss, Map/Reduce), RESTful APIs, scalable message passing and fault tolerance.
The development process is rapid, iterative and based on Scrum.
Skype is seeking a motivated and dynamic quality engineer to be part of a cross-functional team including product owners, engineers, architects, and other developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality engineer working within an agile development environment with other developers and product owners to scope, test, develop and deliver world-class software solutions.
- Collaborate with and assist the product owners to do release planning.
- Automate, plan and organize execution of regression, functionality, benchmark, stress and load testing on different server environments.
- Build efficient test automation to drive functional, and end to end testing of products and services to ensure high quality at every phase of development.
- Play an active role in the design, development and testing of production software.
- Deploy software in production, and share in managing CI/CD process.
- Administer production network services.
- Help to continuously improve the development process.
Software Development Engineer in Test - EDF - Skype Job Job Requirements
Expertise/Experience
- Proven track record of building test frameworks for large-scale distributed systems.
- Excellent trouble-shooting, and time management skills.
- Extensive experience writing tests in programming languages, e.g. C#, C++, Java.
- Moderate experience with multiple scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, Perl, Bash.
- Working knowledge of networking protocols including TCP and UDP, iptables, tcpdump.
- Understanding of testing concepts, processes and methodologies in distributed, multi-user, client-server systems.
- Experience with both Windows and Linux/UNIX environments.
- Experience or understanding of RESTful APIs.
- Some working knowledge of the .Net Framework version 2.5 through 4.5.
- Azure service management and Azure service testing experience a positive.
- A working knowledge of Agile Development or an enthusiasm and passion to learn
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent years of relevant work experience.
- Strong command of the English language
- Minimum of 3-5 years of applicable work experience
