Description and Desired Qualifications We are looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical/Electrical Design Engineer with extensive experience of designing Railway Systems.
It is also a pre-requisite that you will have been involved in large Rail projects with a familiarity of LUL/NWR/RG standards including British and European Standards.
You will take a lead role in designing the following:
- Lighting and control circuits
- LV power supply and distribution
- HV power supply and distribution
- Mechanical piping systems
- HVAC systems
The candidate must be experienced in the use of: - Amtech
- Hevacomp
- Dialux
- Relux
- Microsoft Office
- Microsoft Project
The key function of this position is to oversee, produce and check design documents/drawings for allocated projects as appropriate, including (but not limited to) plans, sections & elevations, schematic details, calculations, design risk assessments, specifications & other technical documents, cost plans etc.
Provide input to tender documents and estimates. Organise and attend occasional site visits as appropriate. Take a leading role within the allocated project team providing mentoring to less experienced staff as required.
Key areas of responsibilityThe priorities of this role include: - producing high quality, accurate designs, to client's contractual requirements and company standards.
- participating in the project team contributing to two way communications with staff in the team.
- assisting in the development of staff skills, providing appropriate mentoring and support as required.
- co-operate with other team members, the responsible design manager, project manager and planners to optimise utilisation and project delivery.

Key requirements
The ideal candidate should possess an appropriate technical qualification or equivalent and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge.
- Extensive experience in the design of railway mechanical & electrical systems ideally in both sub-surface & above ground stations.
- Familiarity with LUL/NWR/RG Standards and British/European Standards.
- Ability to deliver complex designs to time, budget, quality and scheduled requirements.
Basic Qualifications Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
Degree Required Bachelors or 4 Year Degree
