Job Description
Scionics Computer Innovation seeks to recruit a highly motivated individual to provide image analysis support within a small team as part of a Scientific Computing facility in an academic research environment. This research environment employs a broad range of imaging technologies, is equipped with state-of-the-art microscopes and has a number of research groups working at the interface of biology and physics as well as several groups dedicated to optical technology development. This provides an exciting and unique opportunity to work on image analysis in a multidisciplinary environment with biologists, mathematicians, physicists, and computer scientists.
 
Responsibilities Include
Working under the supervision of the Image Analysis Developer to:
 

• Provide a “walk-in” advice service for scientists to guide them to the correct software and image analysis solution
• Train staff in image analysis techniques and tools through workshops and practical courses
• Work with image processing software including MATLAB, ImageJ, Fiji, Huygens, Applied Precision Inc. SoftWoRX, and BioImageXD
• Maintain documentation and an intranet presence detailing basic usage of image analysis tools and applications for scientists
• Work directly with scientists to execute small to medium image analysis tasks using a variety of open source and commercial software packages

Image Analysis Support Job Requirements

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience applying image analysis tools and applications
• Familiarity developing image analysis solutions and algorithms with MATLAB, ImageJ, Fiji or other appropriate tools or directly in C, C++, Java or equivalent language
• A Masters, PhD, or equivalent degree in an appropriate scientific discipline (Computer Science, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, etc)
• Experience in a research environment
• Must be fluent in English and have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Ability to work in a team and capability to lead projects

• Strong mathematical background
• Knowledge of German is welcome but not required
