The Reactor Services business provides high added value engineering, technical and safety case support to our customers’ nuclear operations, with a focus on optimizing operations and life extensions. We have partnering arrangements in place with a number of major clients in the civil nuclear and defence industries, including EDF Energy, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems. There are currently significant opportunities for mechanical engineers to support across a range of projects. We are interested in engineers at all levels of experience and in a range of locations around the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
• Successful execution of high quality engineering work to time, quality, budget and customer satisfaction
• Demonstrates focus on customer care, committed to delivering on promises
• Carries out feasibility/option studies and to provide cost-effective design solutions to customers’ challenges
• Anticipates technical risks associated with own projects and discusses how to manage these with Responsible Engineer or Team Leader
• Maximises the profitability of all work by providing accurate estimates of engineering work for proposals/ tenders.
• Maintains and develops successful working relationships with existing contacts in client organisations
• Maintains a technical knowledge and competence in a field of expertise, which is recognised by clients, and seeks to develop skill portfolio
• Works in a safe and sustainable manner and strives for continuous improvement in these areas.
• For the senior / lead / principal engineer roles, acts as Responsible Engineer for projects and takes technical responsibility for delivery of work to the client.
Essential Qualifications:
• Degree qualified or equivalent (HNC/HND with experience)
Experience / Knowledge Required:
• Mechanical engineering experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Mechanical design (concept and detailed)
- Safety case / safety substantiation
- Pipework and plant design / analysis (pumps, valves, vessels)
- Systems / process engineer
- Maintenance and operations support
- Manufacturing experience
• Experience in the nuclear industry would be advantageous, but will consider applications from other regulated industries.
• Achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent experience) would be desirable.
