Technical Engineer (f/m) Job Description
EBG MedAustron GmbH is building and will later on operate a state-of-the-art ion-beam centre for tumour therapy and medical/physics research in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. The technical design and construction of the particle accelerator is made in collaboration with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN http://www.cern.ch/) in Geneva.
In our young and dynamic team for the implementation of the MedAustron Accelerator we are searching for a
Technical Engineer (f/m)
The MedAustron Radio Frequency (RF) team takes care of the equipment that is required for accelerating charged particles to a requested energy. For the MedAustron facility the acceleration will be accomplished in two consecutive steps, within a linear accelerator (LINAC) which is part of the injector complex and a broadband cavity in the synchrotron main ring.
Your responsibilities
As a member of the RF group, you will:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the RF systems;
- Participate in the hardware production and further in the assembly of the RF systems;
- Develop, build and program the industrial control system (PLC) that monitors and operates thevarious hardware components;
- Participate in the process for the integration into the MedAustron accelerator control system;
- Set-up the specific infrastructure for system tests and hardware verification;
- Contribute to the qualification (testing) of the final systems;
- Prepare and keep up-to-date the technical documentation, including technical schemes and quality assurance records;
- Participate in the transfer, installation, and commissioning of the developed RF systems
- at the premises of the MedAustron facility in Wiener Neustadt.
For the vacant position there is a minimum remuneration of EUR 40.000,-- p.a. We are willing to pay according to the market depending on qualification and experience. We offer extensive social company benefits and a cooperative working climate.
Technical Engineer (f/m) Job Requirements
- You hold a Bachelor’s Degree (Fachhochschule) or a University Degree in electro-technical engineering.
- Experience and knowledge:
- RF engineering, electronics or signal processing;
- Ability to work with sensitive electronics and RF equipment;
- Ability to work independently as a member of a team;
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with other teams in an international and multidisciplinary environment;
- Flexibility to adapt to new challenges;
- Knowledge of English or French.
Optionally, this position can lead to a PhD qualification.
Design and implementation will be carried out at CERN. During an initial period (up to two years) the candidate is expected to relocate to CERN (Geneva, Switzerland). The long-term perspective is to return to Wiener Neustadt for the installation, commissioning and operation of the MedAustron facility.
