The function activity area is electronics and silicon sensor design for solid state detectors. These sensors are mainly silicon diode based which requires background in (bi-polar) semiconductor physics. Emphasis is on the front-end, i.e analogue electronics for high sensitive, low noise, pre-amplifiers and X-ray sensor chip design. Aspects of interfacing with digital electronics, i.e digital pulse processing or multi-channel analyzer functionality, is part of responsibility. Detector control electronics, mainly focussing on supportive functionality, such as voltage supply and temperature control circuitry is also part of the function responsibility.
The Solid State Detector Engineer is needed to support the growing business and new product developments for the product lines XRF and XRD, which are used in material analysis in scientific and industrial product- and process control. These are being developed in a team located in The Netherlands. The primary responsibilities for the candidate will be contributions to new X-ray sensor developments by design, simulations and evaluation, with a strong emphasis on device physics. The job requires the applicant to understand the application requirements, and to work closely together with other highly trained professionals in technologically challenging multi-disciplinary projects. As a Solid State Detector Engineer you will work closely with detector physicists, process technologists (internal as well as external) and electronic hardware and software developers in the same R&D team.
