Aerospace Engineering
The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering has a current enrolment of approximately 2,400 students, making it one of the largest faculties of TU Delft. The faculty is one of the highest-ranked internationally and is unique in Europe. Although the faculty's primary focus is on the development of aerospace systems, the application of such systems plays an equally important role. Research explores subjects ranging from earth observation to wind power and other sustainable energy technology. The working atmosphere at the faculty is friendly, open-minded and dedicated.
The Space Systems Engineering (SSE) group is one of the two sections of the Space Engineering Department, one of the five departments within the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering. The group is dedicated to the broad range of end-to-end spacecraft engineering covering the analysis, design, integration and verification as well as the operations of space vehicle systems and their components. Innovative space technology is used for a rapid in-orbit demonstration based upon the development of pico-, nano- and micro-satellites.
The group performs the function of systems architect and systems engineering management for the university’s satellite projects. These projects are executed by teams of BSc, MSc and PhD students under supervision of university staff. The group is truly multi-disciplinary in nature and operates state-of-the-art facilities such as a cleanroom, ground station and spacecraft simulator. The chair operates in close cooperation with other disciplines of the faculty, within other faculties of the TU Delft and with universities worldwide, as well as with European research institutes and the space industry.
Job description
In state-of-the-art satellite development projects, modern Systems Engineering processes and tools play an important role in achieving the desired project result with an efficient use of the resources available. This is especially true for missions aiming at fast and affordable in-orbit demonstration of innovative technologies. This aspect is an important element in the chair's educational programme. The SSE group seeks an individual at the level of a lecturer to fill a central role in supporting primarily educational activities in the field of SSE. The candidate should be able to educate students at the BSc and MSc levels, develop new content, apply new teaching concepts and integrate concepts and content for learning elements which are attractive to students. Candidates with experience in lecturing in higher education and SSE are encouraged to apply.
