We are looking for a Health & Safety Co-ordinator for Business Unit Offshore to join the team at Vattenfall Staff Function Health & Safety.
The location is flexible and can be based in Denmark -Fredricia or Esbjerk, England - London, Sweden - Stockholm, Germany - Hamburg or in Netherlands - Amsterdam.
The main focus of this position is to provide independent advice, support & assistance to the Head of the business unit Offshore on the function of Health and Safety, to ensure the company meets its statutory obligations by implementing good practice in achieving high levels of Health and Safety management. The role shall also co-ordinate and drive the Health & Safety management with the local H&S specialists in the projects/units to achieve consistency throughout the business unit.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Implementation of the staff function Health and Safety governing model in the area of activities being supported by this position
- Communication of the business division Health and Safety programs for the implementation of Health & Safety strategies, plans, regulations and standards within the supported area of activities
- Development, communication and follow up of the business unit/operations unit specific measures for the implementation of the business division Health and Safety strategies, plans, regulations and standards
- Advise and support the business unit management team in the implementation of Health and Safety management systems in accordance with BS OHSAS 18001
- Control execution and effectiveness of Health & Safety management systems, develop ideas for the improvement
- Assist and deliver expertise in the investigation and analysis of occupational accidents
Ensure full, comprehensible and immediate reporting on relevant Health & Safety issues to Heads of the Legal Entities to the extent required by laws and regulations (in particular German and Swedish law) - Monitor and support reporting on Health & Safety relevant issues from BU to H & S
- Closely cooperates with Regional Health & Safety Centres as well as with decentralized safety experts at the sites (in line organisation) with country specific questions
Specific tasks for this position will include but are not limited to: - Attend management meetings within the business unit
- Deliver monthly reports on the overview of Health and Safety management within the business unit
- Co-ordinate Health & Safety activities with the local H&S specialists within the operating units
- Undertake internal audits
- Provide support in the absence of the local H&S specialists
Health & Safety Co-ordinator Business Unit Offshore Job Requirements
- Mechanical /Electrical or Engineering background
- Several years full time experience in Health and Safety management
- Occupational Health & Safety qualification
- Understanding of EU Directives and of Principles of Health & Safety Management
- Trained in Accident Investigation and Auditing Techniques
- Basic IT skills to produce reports
- Experience in the Wind Industry or Experience in working in a high hazard industry such as construction / power industry
- Experience of safety management systems
- Experience with Client / Contractor relationships & management
- Good communication skills both verbally and written
- Able to develop working relationships with fellow employees, contractors and external stake-holders
- Organized, with the ability to prioritize work load & tasks
- Assertive
- Proactive and pragmatic in applying experience to operational issues
- Keep up to-date through continual professional development
