For EADS Astrium ST in Bremen within the department TEB11 - Mechanical Engineering we are looking for a(n) intern (m/f).
Astrium, a wholly owned subsidiary of EADS, is a global space industry leader, with world-class expertise across all sectors of the space business. Its division Astrium Space Transportation is now preparing for the next generation of launch vehicles, so we are always looking for young (future) engineers with new ideas and technologies.
In the department of Mechanical Engineering (Bremen, Germany) a graduate internship is offered to M.Sc. students in the area of mechanical/aerospace engineering or materials science.
The assignment is within the framework of a research project on rapid manufacturing technologies, and focuses on the development and implementation of verification methods and qualification logic for additive layer manufactured Upper Stage components.
Tasks
Your responsibilities will include:
- Literature research
- ALM technology, covering process, materials, design, inspection and qualification
- Finite Element Method modeling of ALM specific failure criteria
- Collection of test data / supervision of tests (tbd) to:
- identify ALM specific failure criteria
- determine the parameters required for FEM-simulation of selected failure criteria
- Finite Element Method modeling:
- Establishment of parametric FEM models
- perform FEM analysis of dimensioning failure criterion
- correlate the FEM calculation to the experiments
- Enrolled Student (m/f) in the area of mechanical/ aerospace engineering or materials science
- Knowledge of design and calculation of aerospace structures
- Basic knowledge of numerical simulation
- Experience with FEM/FEA software, preferably ABAQUS and Patran/Nastran
- General skills in programming
