We are looking for a HSE Manager for A.Schulman Plastics BV, part of the U.S. LyondellBasell group, is a leading international supplier of high-quality polymer compounds and master batches, which are used as raw materials to promote solutions to modern challenges. One of the 5 business units within LyondellBasell is Advanced Polymer Solutions. Within this BU, Bornem produces additive concentrates for plastics (master batches) for food packaging, agriculture, etc.
 
This is the role
As HSE Manager you are responsible for leading, evaluating, coordinating and executing HSE activities in accordance with the legislation and the established Goal ZERO policy at our site in Bornem.
 
You participate in the development of the HSE policy in order to achieve a "zero-incident culture" and a healthy working environment for the colleagues and contractors on the site.
 
As head of the internal security department for the Bornem location, you advise the organization on HSE, for the environmental part you work together with the external environmental coordinator.
In your responsibility, you analyze, report and advise on risk situations and communicate the vision to achieve the mentioned goal.
In this role you are responsible for motivating, developing and guiding the employees regarding safety.
 
Tasks & responsibilities
 

• Advising on legal obligations regarding HSE;
• Ensuring that risks can be detected at an early stage and measures can be integrated into the HSE policy of the organization;
• Monitoring and managing HSE topics. Check that the Bornem organization is in line with the requirements of stakeholders (e.g. customers, legislators) and the strategy on HSE, also in practice;
• Coordinating HSE tasks (such as leading of investigations into accidents at work, ..) with the aim of further streamlining and communicating the HSE initiatives;
• Performing organizational and administrative obligations regarding to HSE to be in line with the legislation and the policy and provide the necessary reporting;
• Implementing an HSE manual and safety culture/awareness (GoalZERO) so that everyone always puts the environment, safety and health of employees and external parties first;
• Raising awareness among employees to actively participate in the HSE policy;
• Developing the necessary knowledge of the production process and legislation in the context of the used raw materials.

HSE Manager Fulltime Job Requirements

This is what you bring
 

• Bachelor degree (e.g. Integral Safety or Chemistry) or equivalent through experience;
• Degree of Prevention Advisor min. level 2 and the commitment to achieve a level 1;
• Degree of Environment coordinator B is a plus;
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in an international production environment;
• Solid knowledge of and experience with the implementation and application of HSE processes and systems;
• Strong in communication, in Dutch and English.
