More than 100 years ago, a young Frank C. Mars started making candies in his Tacoma, Washington kitchen. From that simple beginning, his son Forrest built Mars into the mature company it is today, first by creating the MILKY WAY® bar with his father and later by expanding the business overseas and diversifying into new categories like pet care and food. Today, the Mars family of Associates is 80,000 strong in 78 countries around the world. Through all that growth, we’ve remained a private, family-owned business, with passionate Associates who are united and guided by The Five Principles.
The Five Principles are the heart of everything we do. Each one of our principles — Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom — inspires us to do our best.
From the biggest chocolate factory in the world, based in Veghel, the Netherlands, the most popular confectionery bars such as Mars®, Snickers®, Twix® en MilkyWay® find their way to millions of people, giving them a moment of indulgence. You are one of the driving forces behind this success, playing a key part in securing product delivery to our customers in 80+ markets around the world. 'You' actually means an overall team of more than 100 associates across four production lines (total 90kT capacity). As our new Value Stream Manager, you will ensure the delivery of the operating plan, with key functional deliverables in People Leadership, Safety, Quality and Service for both a day shift Value Stream Team and 10 Team Leaders looking after a 24/7 operation. Furthermore you will be responsible for the strategy and execution in relation to delivering relevant KPIs. Naturally, you will work in close collaboration with the rest of the Plant Management Team and regional stakeholders to balance priorities and meet customer demands in a changing and flexible environment while maintaining compliance.
We offer you the opportunity of bringing your approximately 10 years of experience in a sugar and/or chocolate industry supply chain environment, and your strong leadership skills and passion for safety, quality and productivity to this key role at the front end of our entire operation. You are able to achieve continuous improvement relative to business objectives (Master’s degree), and have your own proven method for building and maintaining effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders at different levels in the organisation and externally. This includes leading the Talent Agenda for the Value Stream, e.g. coaching, staffing and PDPs. On a personal level, you are independent with a strong sense of initiative, and you’re known for your decisiveness, fairness and consistency. Excellent communication skills in English (and Dutch) are required. This full-time position comes with a permanent contract.
