Responsibilities

• Interpretation of crystallographic and thermodynamic data in order to propose molecular binding geometries of optimized lead candidates, based on a profound understanding of structural biology and protein-ligand interactions Pharmacophore searches, appropriate filtering and virtual screening (molecular docking) of compound libraries for identification of novel leads, Optimization/Minimization of computer-generated docking solutions
• Proactive support of all lead optimization campaigns, ranking of candidates for chemical synthesis in structure-guided lead optimization with particular focus on evolution of fragments to lead-like ligands HTS analysis, hierarchical clustering of Screening Hits and detection of emerging SAR Library design, library profiling and cheminformatic analysis of inhouse and third-party libraries
• Application of QSAR methods for development of predictive models
• Evaluation of dynamic properties of protein-ligand complexes by molecular dynamics simulations and calculation of Binding Free Energies
• Construction of reliable homology models for targets with only limited structural knowledge
• Support of BD and customer acquisition activities by providing adequate visual material

(Senior) Computational Chemist (m/f) Job Requirements

Profile

• University degree or similar in Chemistry/ Pharmacy/Biology/ Life Sciences
• PhD degree in the field of Molecular Modeling and Computational Chemistry
• Preference for 5-7 years experience in a similar role in an industrial environment
• Profound understanding of protein-ligand-interactions and binding thermodynamics
• Effective written and oral presentation and communication skills in German and English
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary drug discovery team with Medicinal Chemists, High Throughput Screening Experts and Crystallographers. Experience in state of the art software packages for molecular modeling
