EUMETSAT is Europe’s meteorological satellite agency. Its role is to establish and operate meteorological satellites to monitor the weather and climate from space - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's Member and Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide.
EUMETSAT also operates several Copernicus missions on behalf of the European Union and provide data services to the Copernicus marine and atmospheric services and their users.

We are currently looking for an experienced Process Services Coordinator for cloud-based processing, from an operational IT, Engineering or Remote Sensing environment, to join our international team of inspiring engineers and industry professionals, tasked with driving innovation within the Space, Satellite and Earth Observation sector.
This role is routed in the mission of EUMETSAT and will provide the opportunity to work with leading IT, Space and Earth Observation organisations and domain experts to make a positive impact on society!
Background
EUMETSAT is evolving towards a “data-centric” approach for the provision of Earth Observation data services to users, based on big data technologies and architectures, including cloud-offered computing resources, applications and hosted processing capabilities (Data as a Service, DaaS); bringing the user to the data and allowing to perform processing centrally rather than downloading large amounts of data first.
The Processing Services Coordinator will engage in the definition, testing, rollout and running of a future hosted processing service offer and drive the evolving service delivery to users. You will coordinate with users of the service from initial discussions through to assisting in the setup of their required virtual environments, assist with issues related to the service and needed EUMETSAT data and oversee first level support ensuring the smooth operations of the services for all customers.
· Specify and evolve a hosted processing service offering and coordinate management approval;
· Conceptually develop, with a wide network of partners, Collaborative Processing Environments in several fields of thematic application of Earth Observation data, Numerical Weather Prediction data, etc.
· Coordinate and, with first- and second-level support resources, assist user on-boarding to the hosted processing in relevant cloud environments of EUMETSAT and partners;
· Coordinate the availability and provisioning of relevant input datasets on the systems identified in the use cases;
· Report on system performance, usage and the fulfilment of relevant SLA’s and KPI's;

A University degree (or equivalent) in Meteorology / Oceanography / Atmospheric Physics with experience in large scale cloud computing. Alternatively, a University degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/ Information Systems / Cloud Technology / Software Engineering with strong background in supporting application development in Meteorology or Oceanography preferably in cloud environments.
Skills and Experience:
· Experience in Meteorological e.g. Nowcasting / Oceanographic or related applications development;
· Proven experience as a stakeholder in a Data/IT-Applications/User environment;
· In-depth knowledge of Linux;
· Experience with cloud-computing;
· Ability to translate user requests into system requirements;
· Outstanding problem-solving skills.
Experience of the following would be an advantage:
· Cloud native application environment know how;
· Experience in the use of API’s, Python and / or Jupiter Notebook;
· ITIL certified.
