Formality Officer Job Description

IntroductionWith over 70 locations in 16 countries, ASML is the world’s leading provider of lithography systems for the semiconductor industry, manufacturing complex machines that are critical to the production of integrated circuits or chips. ASML is headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, and ASML US is headquartered in Chandler, AZ and maintains a significant research and development facility in Wilton, CT.  Within ASML the Corporate Intellectual Property (CIP) department is responsible for maximizing ASML’s global intellectual property position and establishes and maintains a portfolio of patent rights.Job MissionThe Formality Officer aims to provide efficient quality in driving the patent related processes within the Corporate Intellectual Property department. This role supports the Corporate Intellectual Property Department in general and, more specifically, supports the patent process.Job Description-Work together with at least 2 Patent Attorneys
-Be knowledgeable in the field of patent procedures in general and the involved formalities in particular
-Have a strong quality focus on the patent process in general and your responsibilities in particular
-Be a constructive member of the worldwide team of 15 Formality Officers (Veldhoven (11), Wilton (1), San Diego (2) and San Jose (1))
-This job is located at the ASML campus in Veldhoven and is for 1.0 FTE

EducationAt least a bachelor degree (preferably law) and certified as a Formality Officer.
An internal ASML paralegal training program will be provided to bring you up to speed in the ASML environment.

ExperienceAt least 15 years of working experience.
Broad experience as a paralegal in an IP group or company, IP boutique or law firm (preferably 7+ years) and affinity with an Intellectual Property Management System.
Proven English language skills (verbal and written) and proficient in Dutch language.
Experience with Windows10 and MS Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel).Personal skillsAccurate, structured, pro-active, customer friendly, cooperative, critical and independent.

Formality Officer Job Requirements

At least a bachelor degree (preferably law) and certified as a Formality Officer.
