Process engineer Job Description
The role of the process engineer is to translate the product design into the individual processes needed to create the product. They work closely with the design engineers to ensure that the device performance criteria are met. They conduct pilot trials to prove concepts and test the tools and fixtures required for device manufacture. After establishing a satisfactory process and documenting the processes for manufacturing, the process engineer hands the manufacturing process over to the CCD line engineer, who will introduce the new processes in to production. The Process Engineer will be required to work closely with the project management teams as a significant proportion of the packaging area work is project based
- Work with design teams to transition new products and processes from Development in to Manufacturing, ensuring that all of the requirements for manufacture are completed
- To Apply Lean Manufacture and Six Sigma methodologies to ensure that products and processes are designed for manufacture
- To ensure that all process documentation is in place for new product introduction
- To provide training, coaching and support to Line Engineers
- To lead or participate in 8D problem solving groups to provide robust, well documented solutions to complex process issues
- Responsible for driving forward developments in processing expertise and industrialisation of processes for custom products (DFMA)
All process introductions are considered from ethical ‘green’ perspective, with reclaim, recycle and health issues paramount
Process engineer Job Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or Physics or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum of three years experience in related job role
- Thorough understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
Demonstrable experience of semiconductor processing and custom
