Electronic and Software Design Engineer Job Description

The role
This exciting role is for a high calibre software/electronics engineer to show their talent and take on an important role in the development team. This position is in the cutting-edge of automotive technology, as vehicle manufacturers are now moving their focus more and more to automatic systems.
 
The DAS team is responsible for the design of radar-based systems for automotive vehicles. This includes passenger car and heavy goods vehicles. These systems are micro-processor base,d using DSP functionality to interpret the data from the RF circuits.

What you'll do
The position is a multi-function position requiring versatility, with knowledge of both hardware and software design, and experience in embedded software using the C language. You will be expected to undertake software design tasks and the design of circuits with the minimum of supervision.
 
Key responsibilities will include:

• Being a member of the DAS Team reporting to the Group Leader
• Designing, developing and qualifying validation test equipment for reliable and repeatable testing of radar based systems during concept, development and production testing
• Designing electronic circuits including micro-processor circuit boards, digital circuits and analogue signal processing functions
• Designing PC-based software and embedded software in the unit under test
• Developing and designing of engineering tools for data logging and analysis
• Supporting the build and commissioning of equipment developed
• Liaising with other functions, suppliers and customers

Electronic and Software Design Engineer Job Requirements

Essential:

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
• PC & embedded software development experience
• Electronics design and development experience

• Demonstrated ability in design and development of control systems
• Knowledge of sensors and actuators
• Automotive electronics experience
• Experience with typical electronic engineering tools
• Experience in validation techniques and requirements
