Description
The Maintenance & Equipment Engineer is a vital member of the Lightyear Manufacturing team and will be mainly responsible for setting up the Total Productive Maintenance system (TPM). This includes selecting the applicable TPM practices and spreading the philosophy throughout the organization.

You will join the team during the industrialization phase of our first car, the Lightyear One. During this phase you will contribute to the preparation of technical specifications and be one of the key stakeholders in equipment and tooling selection. This gives you the opportunity to apply your experience in the selection process. Furthermore, you will be the main contact during the equipment installation and commissioning phases together with our Manufacturing Engineers and will be able to learn all machinery from the beginning directly from suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and manage the TPM system within Lightyear
  • Create and maintain TPM documents, spread the philosophy throughout the organization.
  • Select the appropriate software tool(s) to manage TPM and track maintenance data.
  • Contribute to technical specifications by writing down the maintenance related articles and providing a vendor list to assure purchased equipment meets the quality, safety and product requirements with reliable and available spare parts in the market.
  • Manage the spare parts of production equipment and maintenance warehouse.
  • Manage contractors working in the facility during installation, commissioning and modification works.
  • Assure that production facility meets the related industry and government regulations.
  • Follow up the maintenance related KPI’s such as MTTR, MTBF and continuously improve with corrective actions to achieve targets.
  • Calibration of tightening tools and other related production tools.
  • Analyze the root cause(s) of the failures and take corrective actions to improve production equipment efficiency.
  • Support in-house tooling production and Kaizens with the maintenance team by providing know-how, tools and materials.
  • Contribute to Lightyear’s mission by choosing energy efficient systems to reduce the carbon footprint and contribute to a better future 

Maintenance & Equipment Engineer Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering or equivalent experience supported by related training and certifications
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience as a maintenance and/or equipment engineer, preferably within automotive or related fields
  • Good communication skills in English is a must. Dutch is preferred.
  • Applicable knowledge and experience with TPM
  • PLC knowledge (Siemens is a must, Allen Bradley is a plus)
  • Knowledge of tightening techniques and programming experience with assembly tightening tools
  • Ability to work independent with a hands on mentality
  • Willing to adapt to work with latest automotive production techniques
  • Familiar with related EU and Dutch machinery regulations
  • Six Sigma, FMEA, problem solving techniques, root cause analysis, TPM and other work related technical certifications and/or experience are important assets.
