Piping & Tubing Engineer Job Description

What will you do as Piping & Tubing Engineer?
A day in the life of: 
In the morning you receive an updated hydraulic schematic of the car, you determine together with your colleagues that 5 new routes need to be implemented. You start thinking of different possibilities how to solve this issue and you create a selection matrix to provide insight of what the best theoretical solution would be. After a reinvigorating lunch in the Lightyear canteen you start constructing routing in 3D using CATIA. And you discuss the interfaces with other systems and with the thermal architect. You are analyzing difficult corners and junctions in the piping routes and trying to find the best possible solution looking at all the aspects. Your job will focus but are not limited to:

• Designing and developing a high quality routing of cooling liquids and refrigerant through the car connecting the cooling/heating systems using CATIA 
• Selecting the right materials and appendage types for specific applications
• Preparation of different types of lists, such as accessory lists and valve lists
• Continuously optimize routing for piping and tubing
• Performing measurement and recording work on the shopfloor
• Construct and standardize connections to components
• Determine bend radius
• Evaluate components for cost efficiency and reliability 

Piping & Tubing Engineer Job Requirements

What do we expect from a Piping & Tubing Engineer at Lightyear?

• At least a Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of CATIA V5/V6 and specifically with the piping & tubing module
• You have a highly evolved spatial/ 3D insight
• You have the ability to read hydraulic and isometric schematics
• You are experienced in executing pressure drop calculations
• Knowledge on preformed hose options
• Knowledge on NVH in conjunction with piping & tubing
• You are experienced in using Excel
• A pragmatic and logical train of thought
• You are a team player with a flexible, agile attitude and good communication skills. You are fluent in English. Dutch proficiency is a plus
• Availability for 40 hours a week
