Job Mission
Primary job function is to verify and improve quality in the production processes. Design efficient systems that integrate workers, information, machines, and materials to qualify products. In this position, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for a variety of projects in manufacturing operations. These projects will mainly focus on verify and improve quality, increasing outgoing quality levels, improving delivery, and promoting safety. The Quality Engineer will interface with many different departments located on the local campus as well as with international entities. This position requires exceptional communication, leadership and project management skills in order to drive and maintain change throughout the Department.
Job Description
-Review production information to understand methods and activities in optic manufacturing. This include, but not limit to, production schedules, process flows and engineering specs.
-Create systems and inspection methods to ensure all products meet quality standards.
This might include but not limited to Micrometers, CMMs or other specialize instruments.
-Create inspection database with inspection criteria to verify design specs.
-Utilize SPC analysis to improve process flows and final quality.
-Develop standards for production and design by working with stake holders and managements.
-Process improvements for manufacturing including developing inspection procedures, training of production staff and coordinating activities between cross functional teams.
-Assist in the development and implementation of an improved facility layout.
-Provide technical support to cross functional teams such as Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Planning.
-Evaluate trends in production data and present recommended actions.
-Professionally document processes to provide visibility into manufacturing activities.
Education
Bachelor of Science in Physics or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience
-At least 1-5 years’ experience in an manufacturing environment as an quality engineer.
-Experience in an optical production environment is desirable.
-Working knowledge with SAP is a plus.
-Experience in Microsoft programs, Excel, Word, Power Point, & Visio.
