Job Mission
- Under the umbrella of Product Lifecycle Management, Value Engineering provides a structured approach to increase ASML profitability by improving the Value of our products for our customers and/or reducing its Cost.
Job Description
- The Cost Architect will operate from the Value Engineering program and be present in projects or programs that require an extra focus on cost because of impact or risk. The cost architect will work with technical teams to determine actual cost estimates of building blocks, and compare these costs with cost targets. Regular cost roll-up and reporting on building block level, purchasing level, project level and on Functional cluster level will create an increased cost awareness and sense of urgency to drive costs down.
Main Responsibilities:
- Create Cost breakdown in engineering documents on Building Block level (EPS, engineering performance specification / EDS, engineering design specification)
- Create Cost SDR (system design rational) documentation that is the underpinning of costs in new or changed designs
- Introduce Cost Monitoring in projects, report to Cost project leader, and program manager
- The Cost Architect manages interface towards sourcing
- Analyze Cost Drivers
- Raise Cost opportunities
- Follow up plan for Cost initiatives
- BB level cost Cost spec and actual monitoring
- Provide teams with target costs (via Cost Engineering)
- Connect Cost impact from Quality and Leadtime
Education
- Bachelor or Master in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or similar. Affinity with costs.Experience- Minimum 5 years’ experience in product architecture, product design and industrialization
- Experience in cost structure analysis, product cost optimization, and cost driver analysis
- Ideally familiar with value engineering and cost engineering methods and techniques Personal skills- Excellent analytical skills
- Show cost awareness
- Good knowledge of database tools and reporting tools (Excel, Access, SAP, Spotfire)
