Our San Diego-based light source division, Cymer, is renowned for developing both deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography light sources and next generation extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light sources.   We are a multinational company with over 70 locations in 16 countries, headquartered in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.  We have 18 office locations around the United States including an office in San Diego, CA.
 
Cymer is part of the ASML family and is the largest supplier of deep ultraviolet light sources used in the semiconductor industry. We are looking for a talented technical writer to join our Technical Writing team. Job Mission
The mission of this position is to provide our global workforce with clear, accurate and highly usable service procedures, and to continuously improve product documentation to reduce service time and maintain customer satisfaction by keeping our products’ performance optimized.
 
Job Description
Tasks include developing procedures and technical documentation courses for external and internal customers on highly technical laser systems.  
Writing tasks include:

• Authoring documentation utilizing standard authoring tools
• Convert a document to a different format (FrameMaker to MS Word, MS Word to XML).
• Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures and manuals
• Research, develop and document technical design specifications and test scripts
• Produce electronic documentation
• Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation
• Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content
• Conduct updates and revisions to technical literature
• Processing field feedback and implementing changes in existing documentation
• Conduct technical reviews of documentation
• Validate technical processes and procedures
• Write technical documentation in correct Technical English
• Edit technical documentation for spelling, grammar, and style per a style guide
• Converts input from an Engineer and/or development documentation into a suitable document for the target audience using specifications and standards
• Can create a good balance between text and graphical elements
• Participate in technical documentation development and project meetings

• Strong technical background with Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Technical Field; or equivalent experience and education.

• Minimum of 3-5 years in technical writing, field service or equivalent technical experience required.
• Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Working knowledge of FrameMaker and xMetal
• Familiar with the concepts and techniques of editing
• Can maintain archives (single copy, version control)

• Experience with documentation data collection, processing source documentation
• Experience with project management
• Experience with content management system

• Occasionally may be exposed to loud noise bursts and may be exposed to toxic gases (fluorine). 
• Must be able to work in small, confined spaces.
