Project Manager Job Description

As Project Manager you will collaborate with a system architect of Lightyear. You will monitor and coordinate the budgets of different teams. You will translate the requirements provided by the architects (people/ partners/ budget/ planning) towards the bigger picture and maintain a helicopter view to make sure the deadlines and milestones are met. 

You have obtained a well developed knowledge of engineering but also crunching numbers is something you are experienced in. You keep reality in check even when you are not the technical expert of the domain. Communication and analytical skills are, for that reason, very important. You make it possible for the System Architects to focus on their key responsibilities alongside their team, developing the Lightyear One!


Responsibilities
Your primary task, together with different teams is to keep the development of the Lightyear One on schedule

• Determine needed deliverables with a high level approach, ensure the project stakeholders' expectations are understood and managed
• Create/consolidate project labor and expense estimate and generate work arrangements
• Manage the program/project from scoping and requirements through deployment for an end-to-end project or specific area of a project 
• Financials management, forecast entry/reporting, keeping track of budgets and keep all activities within budget
• Project based detailed work breakdown, setting structures and weekly progress updates
• Proactively assign work and provide instructions, advice and technical/business leadership and guidance to project staff; review work in progress in a timely manner and assess completed work for accuracy, required results and quality
• Proactively manage and monitor execution of deliverables and status in an effective manner
• Manage relationships with all suppliers and subcontractors. Monitor their progress and adherence to the contract
• Alignment of planning of the designated system(s)
• Ensure that internal and external project resources with appropriate skill sets are provided and manage the dependencies between the internal development and outsourced work
• Work with the architects to keep their ideas realistic
• Manage all change requests, validate all budget/schedule impacts, obtain the stakeholders' commitment, and communicate approved changes to designated systems, ensure that all requirements and changes to commitment are communicated to all affected team members
• Act as the contact between the engineering team and the regulatory agencies
• Mentor and provide guidance to project resources
• Take steps to proactively mitigate project risk as defined/required in project plan, .
  ensure stakeholders clearly understand what risks will or will not be mitigated
• Escalate issues to management which cannot be resolved at the program/project level

Project Manager Job Requirements

Requirements

• A Bachelor or Master degree in a technical domain, preferably within automotive or related fields
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience Project/Program Management, preferably within automotive
• Strong familiarity with project management software and techniques such as Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall methodology etc
• Certificates of PMI/ PgMP are a big plus (or certificates in similar fields)
• A strong drive for results, with a proven track record, often delivered under tight and set deadlines
• Highly evolved analytical, social & communication skills
• Understanding of the fundamentals in design and engineering
• Fluent in English and German is a must. Dutch proficiency is a plus
• Availability for 40 hours a week
