Job Description
Will we share, make or buy? This formal decision is your responsibility. As Computer Systems Architect you are responsible for translating the product requirements into conceptual choices of architectures for the new product platforms. You are able to oversee the high-level context and embedment. You determine how to balance existing functionalities (share/copy) with new (make) and off-the-shelf (buy) solutions, resulting in the best long term solutions. You will be working closely together with product architects and electronic architects.
Your tasks and responsibilities involve the following:
-Defining high-level embedment
-Managing the requirements: collecting and documenting the demands to be made on software
-Analyzing existing solutions
-Selecting vendors for off-the-shelf software products
-Translating proposals into proofs of concept activities
-Defining corresponding software architectures in line with the demands
Education
MSc degree in Computer science or other relevant study.
Experience
The person we are looking for combines strong analytical and conceptual skills to a hands-on mentality. You have started your career as software engineer/designer, coding common software. You have then further developed toward stakeholder and requirement management, and from this development you have grown toward the role of architect.You have min. 10 years in development of embedded systems incl. 2 years experience in software architecture is a must.
You have experience with ‘make or buy’ decisions is a very strong pro.

Context of the position
Within ASML, the sector Development & Engineering (D&E) is responsible for the specification, design and engineering of the ASML products. Within D&E, the Software Cluster is concerned with the design, development, testing and integration of the complete software package which drives a generation of ASML products. In the SW Cluster, the department Machine Control & Infrastructure is responsible for the architecture of the software landscape.
