Job Mission
ASML Research is looking for a talented Chemist, Physical Chemist, Plasma Chemist, with experience in experimental and/or modelling Physics and Physical Chemistry, who will contribute to the physics and chemistry competences in our research group.

Job Description 

  • The researcher will work in multidisciplinary teams with chemists, and physicists;
  • The candidate is able to analyze the situation in our scanner, interpret the possible reactions that can occur between the scanner plasma and materials, and design, perform and analyze experiments to mitigate material problems;
  • The candidate needs to discuss with physicists and engineers on cross disciplinary research such as EUV- matter interaction, plasma- matter interaction.

Physical Chemist for reactive plasma Job Requirements

Education
(Technical) University PhD in Chemistry, Physical chemistry with experience in experimental approaches. Relevant 2-5 years of experience is appreciated.

Experience

  • Knowledge of reactive processes on surfaces and with materials at low ambient pressures involving gas phase species, including radicals and ions;
  • Understanding of the elementary properties of plasma state of matter;
  • Understanding the chemistry of surface reactive processes;
  • Being able to translate chemical insights in advices to engineers towards risk mitigation in advanced ASML tools towards material choices and environmental choices;
  • Understanding the thermomechanical stability of thin films on materials against external stress factors such as temperature, chemical reactions etc.;
  • Experience of working with Matlab.Personal skills-Open to learning techniques outside of the above mentioned fields in the future;
  • Being interested and able to do design and to perform experiments;
  • Good team player. Autonomous while driving to success in a highly skilled team of experts towards a common goal;
  • Pragmatic attitude with an analytical view;
  • Good communicational and reporting skills and good knowledge of English.
Context of the position
The Research Physics and Chemistry group is part of the Research department of ASML. This group identifies and fills in technological gaps in the future roadmap of lithography and the lithography market. Our focus is on advanced material research and on the interaction of light (13.5 nm) with the gaseous background in our tools and on solid materials. We work in small teams and deliver solutions that can be transferred to Development and Engineering. We work together with external research institutes and universities.
