This involves solutions related to large capital investments and operational solutions. 

A center of excellence within EOS is Capex purchasing, for the purchasing of equipment, engineering and construction services. 

To help us build an outstanding Capex capability we currently seek an experienced and professional 

Purchasing Agent for Instrumentation and Automation (I&A)

As Purchasing Agent I&A you are responsible for providing optimal supplier solutions and matching the technical requirements for the study, design and realization phase of capital projects.

Within this context, you lead the purchasing process for I&A from start to finish. You work closely with the responsible engineer, coordinate with the respective suppliers, and report progress, savings and results to project management.

You will be joining AkzoNobel, a multinational and multicultural organization that is commited to your personal and professional development. The position is based in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

Detailed responsibilities

  • The role encompasses varied and far-reaching activities as you challenge our engineers to explore alternative concepts and solution.
  • You link with Capex purchasers around the world, providing them with your expertise and exploring cross-project synergies. You also advise our worldwide business units on sourcing strategies, life cycle contracts, and the TCO related to process automation.
  • This requires knowledge of all relevant process automation and instrument suppliers, product development and services. You pro-actively share this knowledge with engineers, purchasers and other stakeholders within AkzoNobel.
  • Additionally, you help to build an outstanding AkzoNobel I&A network by sharing best practices and drawing on external networks that bring innovations to AkzoNobel.
  • You cooperate with AkzoNobel Sourcing to develop and maintain frame agreements related to I&A, shaping key supplier management and leveraging volumes.
  • Finally, you contribute to the global EOS Capex purchasing team.

Purchasing Agent Instrumentation and Automation Job Requirements

Candidate profile

  • To apply for this position you should have a relevant academic technical degree, preferably in systems engineering. With this comes experience in Capex procurement and/or systems engineering in an engineering environment, system supplier or as enduser.
  • You are a multi-functional team player with highly developed analytical and conceptual skills that enable you to work accurately and with attention to detail.
  • In addition, you possess strong commercial instincts and a real ability to focus on advising and influencing customers. This requires strong communication skills as you develop a network of internal and external relations.
  • A high standard of oral and written English and Dutch is essential. German or other languages is an advantage.
