The institute develops solutions for exploration, field development and production. SINTEF Petroleum Research is located in Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger. SINTEF Petroleum Research Seismic and Reservoir Technology department seeks: Research Manager, Seismic group.
The department:
The Seismic Group is part of the “Seismic and Reservoir Technology” Department, where we develop integrated solutions. In addition we collaborate with other departments of SINTEF Petroleum Research, such as Formation Physics and Basin Modelling. We also co-operate with the Dept. of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics at NTNU, thus offering opportunities to work within a large and broad geophysics group at SINTEF/NTNU in Trondheim. We seek an atmosphere of creativity, innovation, team-work, professionalism and customer-orientation. The Seismic Group develops new methods for processing seismic data in acoustic, elastic and anisotropic media. We work mainly on reservoir characterization and CO2 monitoring. To meet the evolving needs of the petroleum industry we are expanding our activities to include the joint inversion of seismic, gravimetric, magnetic and CSEM data. We anticipate a growing level of activity in this area in the coming years as we aim for a leading position in the international arena.
Responsibilities:
•Lead a highly competent and capable technical team of geophysicists, mathematicians and software engineers to drive business and research delivery
•Lead and coordinate the strategy process on scientific domains, and generally the scientific development of the group
