ASML is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of chip-making equipment.
Our vision is to enable affordable microelectronics that improve the quality of life. To achieve this, our mission is to invent, develop, manufacture and service advanced technology for high-tech lithography, metrology and software solutions for the semiconductor industry.
ASML's guiding principle is continuing Moore's Law towards ever smaller, cheaper, more powerful and energy-efficient semiconductors. This results in increasingly powerful and capable electronics that enable the world to progress within a multitude of fields, including healthcare, technology, communications, energy, mobility, and entertainment.
Working at ASML
We provide the world’s top chipmakers everything they need to create better performing, cheaper semiconductor chips. Simply put: we are an industry leader supporting industry leaders.
As such, you’ll be encouraged to bring your best ideas and act on them. You’ll have the freedom, trust, and support in your field to experiment and solve complex challenges. Things are rarely dull when you’re constantly breaking new ground.
But despite our fast-paced environment at the forefront of tech, we take your work-life balance and wellbeing seriously. A business is only as good as its employees.
So join us, and you’ll be a part of a global collaboration. One that promotes creativity, the inclusion of highly diverse teams, and an exciting and dynamic work environment. Join us, and you’ll be a part of progress.
Introduction
As a physics design engineer you take ownership of a technical problem and turn its solution into an opportunity for both ASML and our customers. You will work in a multidisciplinary team with different competences and various professional and cultural backgrounds to realize products for customer use across the various lithography aspects. ASML offers products that optimize lithography performance which are developed and integrated within D&E projects. One of the main key performance indicators (KPI) of lithography is the accuracy to which the exposure is put in focus. The main competency of the OPP Focus Applications group is the development of metrology that measures the focus error and its usage for control scenarios to improve the focus performance, contributing in the end to customer’s yield and profitability.
Job Mission
Our group consists of enthusiastic colleagues that work together on challenging analytical problems to solve. We emphasize energizing discussions with customers to determine their problems, their needs and work together with them towards building solutions. While we work on a rather niche business case for customers, the work we do has proven profitable to customers and has a large impact on the chip fabrication technology of today. We celebrate these successes as a team on a regular basis.
Job Description
As part of our group you will analyze performance of existing focus metrology and control solutions, participate in the realization and roll-out of new ones, and aid in the identification of new opportunities with respect to improving the focus performance for customer use-cases. You will need to combine creative problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking to develop innovative solutions. We expect you to be assertive and a strongly result-oriented team player. Good communication skills enable you to align with multi-disciplinary colleagues from different sub-systems and effectively explain product characteristics to internal and external stakeholders that are part of the product creation process. You will design, test and integrate complex on-product focus solutions within the boundaries defined by the system specifications, budgeted costs and planning. The design process includes Matlab-based simulations and rapid-prototyping in a controlled but realistic customer environment. This is conducted in collaboration with ASML local teams and customers resulting in drafting requirements for final SW implementation and supporting its implementation. The end-phase of realization consists of taking the lead in testing and evaluating product performance in a customer environment.
