Job Description
- -Mechatronics engineering background or specialization in closely related areas such as robotics or other fields.
- Experience with understanding and troubleshooting legacy designs to determine potential risks, failure modes, and corrective actions.
- Integration of “off-the-shelf” robotics into capital equipment, developing with the cross sector team all related aspects such as dynamics, thermal management, end effector design, controls, etc.
- Responsible for “sustaining engineering” tasks, resolving equipment design issues in a timely fashion as they arise at customer sites.
- Participation of concept design studies for next generation equipment and subsystems.
- Develop the mechatronic modules or sub-assemblies when given higher level module or sub-system requirements.
- Derive lower level requirements and designs for mounted optics and mechatronic positioning and measurement devices such as position and presence sensors.
- Basic experience with mechatronics behavior predictive modeling and methods, including “first principle” engineering equations and other techniques, using tools such as Matlab, Simulink, or similar programs.
- Strong skills in proof of concept development and design of experiments for a wide range of project needs.
- Ability to run complex mechatronic systems for test and qualification of design changes.
- Demonstrated ability to derive conclusions from analysis and to make practical recommendations.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills, including the ability to present results based on strong statistical evidence to audiences of a wide range of technical abilities.
- Take direction from ASML System Architects and Senior Engineering mentors who are leading the development effort of critical large capital equipment.
- Ability to drive cross functional teams towards quality deliverables, includes software, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering.
- Exposure to multi-disciplinary projects, such as imaging or optical systems preferred but not required.
Mechatronics Architect Job Requirements
Education
BS / MS / PhD with 5 – 10 years of experience.
Experience
Five to ten years of industry experience in mechatronics / opto-mechanical development:
- Candidate should have direct experience in the design and test of mechatronic systems preferably in the area of optical element positioning in precision optical equipment;
- Candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, with suppliers and co-developers to ensure timely realization of competitive, high precision, complex components;
- Experience in the following areas are required: Matlab and Simulink, servo design / tuning, actuator design / selection, robot control;
- Experience in the following areas are a Plus: CAD, thermal analysis, opto-mechanical mounting, adhesives, materials, FEA, or other modeling tools;
Personal skills- Customer oriented team player willing to work with high level problem solvers on a daily basis.
- Genuine interest in mechatronics engineering, and analysis, as well as in developing precision systems that can perform reliably at customer sites
- High energy, self-motivated, quick study with flexible nature.
