Technical Author Job Description

Introduction
Creates or edits all technical documentation (Procedure, PCS, FCO, Newsflash,
comments, etc.) for Equipment and / or Manufacturing Engineering and is the main
interface for all authoring related issues, tooling and processes.

Job Description
- Is able to convert a document to a different format.
- Can maintain the archives (single copy, version control).
- Can make basic changes to illustrations and convert illustrations to the required publishing format.
- Is able to convert input from Engineers and/or development documentation into effective technical documentation for ASML products according to the specifications and standards.
- Applies work methods and tools of the department effectively and efficiently.
- Uses documentation tools.
- Specifies requirements concerning illustrations, technical input or user feedback

Context of the position
- Participates in project teams in the area of technical documentation and related documentation tools.
- Can signal the problems that arise and propose scenarios for solutions or escalate.
- Acts as a first point of contact on issues relating to the various projects.Other information- Is able to write technical documentation (Procedure, PCS, FCO, Newsflash) in correct Technical English.
- Is able to edit technical documentation for spelling, grammar and style so that it complies with ASML standards.
- Makes correct use of the available tools, templates and guidelines.
- Converts input from the Engineer and/or development documentation into a suitable document for the target audience.
- Can create a good balance between text and graphical elements.
- Is familiar with the concepts and techniques of editing.
- Initiates improvements to documents with regards to technical content and grammar or style.
- Can edit a set of documents for coherence.
- Gives Engineers guidance on the specifications and requirements of documents.
- Shows ownership with respect to document classification choices (for example OCAP vs. PCS).
 

Technical Author Job Requirements

Education
- Bachelor degree in a technical area
- Proven work experience as a Technical Author
- Fluent in written English
​​​​​​​-Experience- In a technical area with 2-5 years of work experience

Personal skills
- Is familiar with the typographical aspects of the ASML style.
- Applies the ASML style to the different documents that are used at ASML.
- Can create simple illustrations.
- Can edit complex illustrations.
- Can convert illustrations to a different format.
