So join us, and you’ll be a part of a global collaboration. One that promotes creativity, the inclusion of highly diverse teams, and an exciting and dynamic work environment. Join us, and you’ll be a part of progress.
Introduction
Development & Engineering: The Applications D&E department develops, integrates, and qualifies functional modules and application packages in the area of wafer metrology (critical dimension and overlay) and wafer fab applications (performance control applications). All development activities need to be conducted with the constraints of specification, time and budget as demanded by market conditions. Additionally, a technical consulting activity for our customers is operated, that designs and helps implementing integral solutions for on-product performance based on the products developed by ASML.
Job Mission
As a senior design engineer you work in projects having the aim to improve our customer’s on-product overlay performance, typically for an up-coming production node beyond the 14nm node. Our project teams, based in Veldhoven, work together with local customer support, and the customer. In your role you will deal with definition, selection and analysis of datasets (regularly) with sophisticated mathematical methods, identification of root causes for performance gaps e.g. by deploying budget breakdowns, use of mathematical/statistical models incl. data mining techniques, and choice and calibration of actuators for wafer process control. This accumulates in the control of patterning performance and edge placement combing “traditional” parameters of on-product overlay, wafer-alignment, on-product focus, imaging, and employs modelling.
As a senior design engineer you support the development of application products and their interfaces in a wafer fab. These interfaces connect input from scanners, processing tools, metrology tools, context data etc with actuators found in e.g. scanners, processing equipment (etchers, CMP, deposition tools), customer APC, etc. This role also requires that you execute some organizational tasks for your team of 4-7 engineers (mainly on -PhD level) such as work planning, technical coaching and alignment with stakeholders (project leaders, system engineers, product managers, etc.)You are expected to represent ASML as an expert in the field and to get recognition of this by the customers. A high level of integrity is required for securing confidentiality.
Job Description
The job consists of following activities:
- Data & budget analyses with models, algorithms and simulation tools in the field of overlay and wafer fab processing either using given tools or tools developed by yourself.
- Build and apply knowledge on customer’s way of working in the wafer fab related to device patterning.
- Create product proposals for improving on-product overlay and patterning performance.
- Support building roadmaps for future application products in line with customer and SE roadmaps.
- Support implementation of solutions in Software.
- Give technical and organizational leadership to team of 4-7 engineers
Education
PhD/master degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical), with a solid background in the majority of the following fields: statistics, data analysis, control theory, SPC, (semi-conductor) process technology, semi-conductor device physics, and/or design for experiment.
Experience
We are looking for candidates with > 5 years of experience in industrial research, development, or process control organization. Experience within the semiconductor industry is a must.
Your initial responsibilities will be adapted to your experience level and adequate training will be provided.
Personal skills
- Creative in generating ideas for technical solutions and their roadmaps
- Act decisive while dealing with many unknowns- “Make it happen” attitude, entrepreneur
- Take responsibility and communicate proactively with your stakeholders
- Ability to work under time pressure
- Good Teamplayer
Context of the position
The holder of this position reports to AD DE On Product Performance Overlay group manager, interacts with a project manager and operates within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
