Your future team
Guilhem Gaillarde, Ships business unit manager: ‘We are a team of 100 professionals, all extremely driven to help designing smarter, safer and better ships and inspire our clients to bring innovative solutions in their projects. Our clients, located worldwide, include shipyards, naval architects, suppliers, ship owners, classification societies or institutions. We deal with quite a variety of ship types, different requirements depending on ship owners background and goal, different design strategies depending on the yard, variable economical and regulation context, which makes our work very challenging but also extremely interesting! To answer the questions of our clients, to support their ambitions, to manage their limitations or to reduce their risk, we need to adapt constantly our technical approach and the tools we are proposing, from rapid and robust estimations, towards simple tests or calculations, up to refined simulations and complex experiments. Whatever the proposed solution, we always focus at delivering quality, trustful and independent answers. Our reward is to see better ships sailing in the Netherlands and around the globe and to have clients learning and building with us trustful long-term relations.
Your future role
You will be in charge of all aspects related to your projects: contact with the client, elaboration of proposals, management of project, technical implementation, interpretation of the results, reporting, but also tool development, acquisition and new business development. You‘ll be expected to supervise different types of projects and situations. On one hand, advice at concept level and support for optimising the ship performance. On the other hand, thanks to our unique independent position, verification of the performance of given design choices. This will require excellence in using all type of methodologies available at MARIN (numerical and experimental). If you want to tackle such challenge, are interested in developing state of the art expertise in ships hydrodynamics and want to help shipyards and naval architects creating the ships of tomorrow, you are welcome onboard!’
Our requirements
Jaap van Heerd, Senior Project Manager/Team Leader Cruise & Ferry:
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a degree in Maritime Technology and experienced in Hydrodynamics and Naval Architecture. We expect you to be service-oriented and customer-focused, as well as being skilled at reporting and giving presentations. You should also have a excellent command of the English language and daring to learn Dutch if it is not your mother language. We are also looking for someone who is a team player and can also take many initiatives for improvements.’
