About Flanders Make
Towards a digitally transformed, sustainable and competitive industry
Flanders Make is a fast-growing research centre that performs research to support companies from various sectors in their sustainable innovation processes. From our establishments in Lommel, Leuven, Kortrijk and Sint-Truiden and labs within the 5 Flemish universities, we stimulate open innovation through excellent research.
Because of our unique position as a bridge between industry and research, our teams combine application and system proficiency with technological and scientific knowledge. Academic partners and more than 150 companies are part of the innovative circular ecosystem of Flanders Make.
Our strategy based on industrial needs and long-term trends ensures a close link with the industry and its challenges. With our programmed research, we create impact in companies.
Sustainability, climate and workability have a high priority in our research. We want to help companies in developing sustainable, green, smart and connected products and production systems, with a special focus on people and their interaction with machines.
You model innovative drivetrain designs for electric/hybrid motion systems, add advanced control systems, simulate and validate on a top-notch Hardware-in-the loop setup.
Flanders Make researchers help companies in making high-performance, flexible and autonomous machines and vehicles, f.e. by rethinking the drivetrain setups in their machines, robots or vehicles. Flanders Make‘s demonstration and validation infrastructure includes testing facilities for efficient drives, and a top-notch Hardware-In-the-Loop platform for hybrid vehicle applications.
Rethink the design of advanced drivetrains and develop the active control
As an expert in electric drivetrains and mechatronic systems, control or simulation, you:
-Rethink performance and energy efficiency of a variety of (beyond) state-of-the art technologies in a wide scala of industrial applications (a fruit picking robot, a forklift, a weaving machine, a suspension in a car,…);
- Take the lead of work packages or projects and work together with a research team combining expertise in control, model based mechatronic system engineering, vehicle dynamics, testing and validation.
More concretely, you:
- Redesign drivetrains/actuators and develop the active control;
- Make design choices taking into account the total cost of ownership;
- Use Hardware-in-the-loop simulation systems to evaluate the operation of system components and to study system behavior on innovative new designs;
- Work on new ideas inspired by industry needs as well as the research objectives and high-tech infrastructure of Flanders Make;
- Translate your innovative ideas into project proposals.
Creative industrial innovator with a conceptual mind
